George Orwell

Eric Arthur Blair was born on 25th of June 1903 in Motihari, British India, but was educated in England. His Pen names were George Orwell and H.Lewis Always. 1933 he published his book ‘Down and Out in Paris and London’ in which he assimilates his experiences of the year when he was homeless.
He worked as a teacher, ran a village pub and general store with his wife but didn’t had a big income.
In 1937 he volunteered to fight for the Republicans against Franco's Nationalists in the Spanish Civil War. He fought as an infantryman and was shot in the neck on May 20, 1937. So he escaped with his woman. In 1938 he published the book ‘Homage to Catalonia’ based on this events.
During the Second World War he wasn’t able to fight because of tuberculosis, but volunteered for the Home Guard.
On 17th of August 1945 Animal Farm was published and on 7th of June 1949: Nineteen Eighty-Four, one of his other famous books was published.
He died on 21st January 1950 (aged 46) in Camden, London, England.
